First Standard Published by Rebreather Training Council

The Rebreather Training Council (RTC) is the body representing training agencies providing courses for divers using rebreathers. The RTC published its first training standard on August 22, 2017, which indicates the minimum requirements for a level of training. This first standard is named the RTC Recreational Rebreather Diver Level 1 and delineates a stage in a diver’s development where they are trained to dive with a rebreather to a maximum depth of 30 metres/100 feet with no planned stage decompression stops and without supervision by an instructor or divemaster.

The member bodies of the RTC can specify that a course in their own system equates to this standard, in which case they are confirming that their course at least meets the minimum requirements of this level.
